Lymphocyte-macrophage co-operation during induction of T-suppressor cell activity in rats with adjuvant arthritis.

چکیده

The role of macrophages and of macrophage-lymphocyte co-operation in the induction of T-suppressor cell activity in rats with adjuvant arthritis was investigated. Macrophages from arthritic rats had no direct effect on the induction of T-suppressor cells, but, in the presence of arthritic rats' lymphocytes or supernatants from such lymphocytes, macrophages inhibited the induction of T-suppressor cell activity. Addition of indomethacin during the induction of T-suppressor cells reduced the inhibitory effects, suggesting that prostaglandins released from lymphocyte-activated macrophages might be involved in the defective induction of T-suppressor cell activity in rats with adjuvant arthritis.

Decreased T-suppressor cell activity in rats with adjuvant arthritis.

Concanavalin-A-induced T-suppressor cell activity was decreased in spleen cell suspensions from Lewis rats with adjuvant arthritis. This decreased activity was evident on day 10 after the induction of the disease, just before the development of the polyarthritic lesions, and persisted during the period of active inflammatory and immunological disease. The extent of the impairment of T-suppresso...

Lymphocyte subsets and mitogen induced proliferation in adjuvant arthritis. Part III. Numbers and functions of T lymphocytes in spleen.

The changes and the possible roles of splenic T lymphocyte subpopulations in high-responder Long-Evans (LE) rats and low-responder Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats with induced adjuvant arthritis (AA) were investigated. Total splenic T lymphocytes of both strains did not change significantly after the adjuvant injection. However, LE rats exhibited an increase in percentage of helper T cells and helper/...

Impairment of cell-mediated immune responses by infection with Mycobacterium lepraemurium.

The effect of chronic infection with Mycobacterium lepraemurium upon cell-mediated immune responses was studied in Lewis rats. Rats infected for 40 to 175 days were completely protected from attempted induction of experimental adjuvant disease, and the severity of experimental allergic encephalomyelitis in leprous rats was markedly attenuated. Full manifestations of each autoimmune disease were...

Study on anti inflammatory effect of scorpion (Mesobuthus eupeus) venom in adjuvant-induced arthritis in rats

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints as well as other organs in the body. Adjuvant-induced arthritis models in inbred rats serve as relevant models for RA, having many clinical similarities to this disease. Using honey bee venom as a treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis is an ancient therapy in various parts of the world. However scorpion ve...

Effect of local sympathectomy on 24-h changes in mitogenic responses and lymphocyte subset populations in rat submaxillary lymph nodes during the preclinical phase of Freund's adjuvant arthritis.

Wistar male rats received a bilateral superior cervical ganglionectomy or sham-operation and 10 days later were injected with Freund's complete adjuvant or its vehicle. Two days later, rats were killed at six different time intervals throughout a 24-h cycle. The mitogenic effect of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and concanavalin A (Con A) and the relative size of lymphocyte subset populations were me...
